There is a wealth of buried experience in the memories of our childhood and during our years into maturity. What child hasn’t felt misunderstood in spite of the best intentions of well-meaning parents, carers, siblings, friends or teachers? Even before we learn to speak, there are real or imagined slights or punishments which are embedded in our mind even without language. There may have been experiences, perhaps long forgotten, which have led to a fear or phobia in later life or which has led to a habit which we want to break.
What is hypnotherapy ?
Hypnotherapy is an effective form of therapy employing hypnosis to bring about a beneficial change in behaviour, emotions and thoughts. In a state of deep relaxation, suggestions are given that `reprogramme' the unconscious and conscious mind.
What does it feel like ?
It's a very relaxed state, and rather like day-dreaming. You are aware, yet not aware, of things going on around you.
Do people remember things afterwards ?
Usually people have full memory of the events afterwards. A few people do not recall what happened, or recall some of what happened..
Will I lose control ?
At all times the client is in full control of the session and is never asked to do anything against their will. They can open their eyes at any stage. This is not like stage hypnosis. I know that this can be a fear which prevents a few clients from totally relaxing.
What if I can't be hypnotised ?
Hypnosis is a natural state. Only resistance will prevent the experience (5% fall into this category). It can be overcome by practice and trust.
What can I expect when I come to see you?
Your first session may last between 1 and 2 hours and will include a full assessment of your current situation.
How many sessions will it take ?
Many phobias, for example, can be treated in one or two sessions. Problems which are more complex may need a number of sessions - perhaps eight to twelve.
Hypnotherapy can assist with a wide range of topics. These include :
If your problem is physical in origin please see your medical practitioner.
Serious mental disorder may require psychiatric rather than hypnotherapeutic assistance.
"As a man in my 40’s who appears confident and successful I have always felt ashamed of my fear of standing in front of an audience and giving a talk. As you know I always make excuses and ask my deputy to take over instead. However after our amazing session last month I still can’t believe the change. Finding out the cause on my fear, when you regressed me to 7 years old, to an incident I
I had totally forgotten about, was a revelation. Healing the fears of that little boy then sorting me out in the here and now has been something else. I have now done my first standing up presentation to our shareholders, and apart from the natural trepidation about whether I had all the facts straight, it went very well. I will be giving a presentation in Brussels next month and this time I won’t need to fake illness or a prior engagement. Many thanks and much gratitude."

"I want to tell you about the results of the hypnotherapy in February. Brilliant. I really feel there has been a big change, both physically and psychologically. I do feel more powerful, and as if I have at last cast off the shadow of my mother and her domination over me. Within a few days of the session my body also felt more balanced, so well done you!"
